This one came as a surprise to me -- I picked it up only because I was a huge fan of the novel, and I ended up liking it as much as the book! It doesn't hurt that Billy Bob Thornton and Bill Paxton head up the cast, and it also doesn't hurt that Sam Raimi (genius who gave us "The Evil Dead" and sundry follow-ups) directed. All in all, it's a great sleeper of a psychological thriller that has sticking power.

Hey awesome - I'm glad I was able to recommend a movie that you dug so much! Such a bummer of a flick, but so amazingly well made.

I've always loved that shot of their footprints in the snow tracking up to the three of them walking away.

Great post!

My husband made me watch this movie a few years ago, and I ended up really enjoying it - even though I wanted to punch them all and make them make better decisions.
