The End of Lit Flicks

The Lit Flicks Challenge is officially over (both mine, and my sister’s companionship challenge at  It was a pretty fun challenge for me, and a long one.  I can’t believe it started six months ago.  I’m proud to say that I finished my own challenge, while falling one book short for my sister’s.  Here are my entries:

Book review: Blindness by Jose Saramago
Film review: Blindness by Fernando Meirelles
Book review: Little Children by Tom Perrotta
Film review: Little Children by Todd Field
Book/film review: Choke written by Chuck Palahniuk, directed by Clark Gregg
Book review: The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Film review: Tell No One by Guillaume Canet
Film review: Notes from the Underground by Gary Walkow

A big thanks to everyone who participated:

Daily Mish Mash
The Brainlair
Movie Viewing Girl
DeSeRt RoSe

It was a good time examining the relationship between books, and the slightly better medium: film.  I’m not sure I liked what I found, but it was still fun.  Thanks again to everyone who participated and congrats to those who actually finished.

In other news, my friend R.D. at The Movie Projector chose Bitchin’ Film Reviews as one of five blogs to bestow the Dardo award.  It’s always nice to recognized for your efforts (especially when then number of hater comments is always on the rise.  R.D.’s blog is fantastic, and you should all check it out, especially if you’re in to classic film.

The Dardos Award is given for cultural, literary, and personal values in the form of creative and original writing. These stamps were created with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers, a way of showing appreciation and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web.

In accepting the award, which I gratefully do, I must do two things:

  1. Accept the award by posting it on your blog along with the name of the person that has granted the award and a link to his/her blog.
  2. Pass the award to another five blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment, remembering to contact each of them to let them know they have been selected for this award

Picking just five other blogs is extremely difficult since I follow at least 50 in my google reader.  But here are the five blogs I’ve chosen:

Reel Whore
Shannon at the Movie Moxie
Mad Hatter at The Dark of the Matinee
Anders at Cut, Print, Review.
Anh Khoi Do and Movies

There are lots of outstanding blogs out there, about movies, and about other lesser subjects, but these five are blogs I particularly enjoy reading.  Thanks for the great writing guys.  Keep it up.
