A (Colombian) Horror Film To Get Excited About: The Squad

There’s a trailer floating around the internet for a Colombian film called The Squad that looks pretty bad ass. I usually reserve excitement for horror films until I hear the reviews from critics, but I’ll admit, this trailer is pretty freaking awesome. It’s in Spanish, yes, but Twitch has provided a titillating synopsis:

All contact with a military base high in the desolate wastelands of Colombia has been lost. The authorities – believing the base to have fallen to a terrorist attack – send a nine-man squad to investigate. When they arrive, the men discover a shocking scene of carnage, and only one survivor – a mute woman in chains.

Gradually the isolation, the inability to communicate with the outside worldand the impossibility of escape begin to undermine the sanity of the soldiers. They start to question the identity of their enemy, and the true nature of the strange, silent woman. Is she a terrorist? A victim? Or something more sinister? Something supernatural… Paranoia takes root. Prisoners of fear and the terrible secret they share, their humanity abandoned, the men turn savagely on each other.

The Squad will be playing at Fantastic Fest just a few weeks away. Then hopefully it will hit theaters somewhere near me sometime soon.  Watch the trailer below.

Nice, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Colombian film. But TBH this looks like an awesome game more than an awesome film.
