A Poll. About Movie Snacks

I’m shocked, yes shocked at the results of the last poll. I really thought I knew how it would turn out, and I was totally wrong. It was split evenly among five films for so long, it only gave up a clear (but just barely) winner over the last day or two. I had no idea there was so much love for Inception. A great move, for sure. But Best Picture material? I must be dreaming. In a dream. In a dream.

Inception won the poll on very small margins. It had 21% of the votes (four total votes).

Black Swan, which is where I cast my own vote, took second with 16% (3) of the votes.

The Social Network, The Kids Are All Right, and Toy Story 3 all tied for third, each receiving two votes, or 11% each.

The King’s Speech, 127 Hours, The American, I Am Love, and Blue Valentine each got one vote each (5% of the total vote).

It seems there is no clear winner. I had no idea everyone was so divided on the Best Picture race. This will make the Oscars very interesting to watch.

Now for the new poll. On my second most recent trip to the theatre, I bought some popcorn, which is totally out of character. I never buy the stuff. Half the time, I’ll buy a drink. A quarter of the time I’ll also get some licorce or other candy, but never popcorn. So I thought I’d see what sort of snacking habits you have when going out to a theater.

  1. I picked other: I get coffee or tea. No fluffy lattes (although they are nice). A lot of theatres have coffee stands here in Toronto, although their hours can sometimes be weird which makes it a challenge on planning.

I often sneak in some sort of a sandwich…though I make sure I tell the helpful sandwich-maker-type-person to hold the onions.

And of course, as my name might suggest, I can often be found working on a cup of tea.

I live in the land of gourmet brownie and cookie-serving theaters. I like to get whatever the local bakery is providing!

The wife and I make what might be an expensive night out for some and turn it into a cheap dinner – movie, popcorns, and soda all for around $22, thanks to our theaters’ loyalty programs. And we’re not even fat!
