Is the guy to the left in the photo not a dead ringer for John Lurie in Stranger than Paradise?  Proof here.

I did exactly what the generally great buzz around this film told me to do: find out nothing, just go see the film.  Of course, it was impossible to go in completely ignorant about the films content.  All I knew is that someone met someone on Facebook and they may or may not have ended up being who they said they were.  Did someone end up getting killed?  Did a woman end up really being a man?  I had no idea what to expect.  What I didn’t expect was one of the most pleasant surprises of the year.

Like others before me, I say go into this film with as little knowledge as possible.  Just as long as you go see Catfish.  The worst thing anyone can do is spoil the surprise or oversell it.  So I won’t do either thing.  Just watch it.

The film begs lots of questions about how, and when, it became clear any of this was worth documenting, but it certainly was. I still don’t know whether this was real or not, but despite that all, I was still interested while watching this. Good review, check out mine when you can!
