Mad Hatter´s last [type] ..The Climb 127 HOURS Trailer
@ Mad Hatter – I’m really, really jealous. I can barely stand it.
I want to see this movie. Right now. (You know that Aron Ralston cuts off his own arm, right?) I read his Sports Illustrated article every year with my classes.
Oh, and I just found your blog. Thanks, Facebook links!
@ Beth… Way to give it away for anyone who didn’t know!

Sorry, didn’t mean to “give it away.” My intention was actually that the knowledge of his true life story makes the movie even more enticing. Without the background knowledge, I probably wouldn’t put this movie on my priority list of must-sees. The preview itself is just a fun yet cliche indie movie about a young man who thinks the world is his and goes out to do whatever he wants whenever he wants. I want to see the movie because I know it’s more than that–it’s a true survival story.

No worries Beth…truthfully the detail you point out is what makes his story so compelling. The weird thing is though, if someone didn’t already know this about him, I don’t know that I’d want to remind them.
In a way it reminds me of a bad film i once saw called MEN OF HONOR. Since it’s based on a true story, it’s hard to fault a reviewer for mentioning what happens to the protagonist, but since I didn;t know before that i felt kinda grumpy that the reviewer had given it away.
Double-edged sword, right?
Indeed – you and I want to see this film for exactly the same reasons!

@ Beth and Mad Hatter – You both raise good points. I guess because it happened here in Utah, there was more media coverage that the world didn’t get. But he was a GQ Man of the Year! Hopefully there aren’t too many people going into this without knowing the story.
And Beth, shame on you for calling a Danny Boyle movie a cliché indie film.
Glad you found my blog. Come back to Utah and see me!
