This was one of the best films of the century. I was in complete awe. I could not keep my eyes on the movie in some scenes I had to keep turning my head away so in the end I watched it twice. Casey Affleck played his butt off in this film as Lou Ford someone without any emotions or morals he is mean and down right sexy as hell. But he’s the kind of man you try very hard to steer clear from.

hudson is a good actress. what alba is doing in this film, i don’t know. no wonder she walked out at the premiere, ha!

i haven’t seen this yet. but i’m looking forward to it very much.

@ Mitch – The ending really was absurd, and didn’t feel like it belonged, although I’m not sure how it really could have ended. It’s just very strange that no one’s talking about how three or four men died in very violent crimes, but all anyone wants to talk about is Jessica Alba getting punched in the face. I missed ENTER THE VOID. Was it good?

It’s not that festival audiences are prudes or are otherwise more prone to shock than your standard arthouse audience, it’s that violence against women is still a MAJOR taboo in the cinema. I didn’t see the film so I can’t comment, but I also understand that a lot of people were disappointed that the (an apparently abusurd?) ending made what came before it seem especially nihilistic.

Did you catch the Noé film?

Sound like a intense movie. Does Alba actually do a good job? She, like Hudson, often gets ragged on for not doing great acting.
