That's why I shouldn't be reading blogs before bed. Other people's ideas become my ideas. Lemme see if I can think up some other classic Voigt. Deliverance? Heat? Uh, Mission Impossible?

Steve, great suggestion! I actually watched Midnight Cowboy. I talked about it a little bit in the post. I loved it!

Mitch, I finished the mini-series version of Scenes from a marriage tonight. I really enjoyed it. Any suggestions about my next Bergman film? I've run out.

You need to watch the TV Version. Both "Fanny and Alexander" and "Scenes From a Marriage" were filmed as miniseries; the theatrical versions of those films were largely afterthoughts for Bergman and his production team.

If you're serious about finding something with Dustin Hoffman that you like him in, and want to dispell the image of John Voigt being a douche, I highly recommend Midnight Cowboy. It is clearly from a whole other millenium, but they're both so great, and to hear the Midnight Cowboy theme in the context in which it was intended (instead of with Marge Simpson taking her tandem bike on a bus to Miami) is something everyone should experience.
