More loot

November 15th, 2009 by Blake

I must be in rare dysfunctional form, because I got through Wednesday’s loot by Saturday morning.  And that includes the five hour mini-series Scenes from a Marriage.  So I ran back to the library to grab the following movies to get me through until next Wednesday:

  • Nice haul! I especially dig that you rented 8 1/2. With NINE coming out next month, I found myself wanting to brush up on my Felinni.

The Felinni aficianado who I asked about him was good enough to loan me OPEN CITY and L’AVVENTURA. He suggested starting with those two, and leaving 8 1/2 til the end for how very odd it is.

    Enjoy ‘em!

  • But wait! Neither of those are Fellini movies. I really dug L’avventura though. I think you’ll like it. If you got the Criterion Collection edition, the Gene Youngblood commentary is freaking fantastic.

  • Holy shit – you’re not kidding. Mental note: smack the reccomender.

I know he mentioned OPEN CITY since Felinni wrote it…kinda like bringing up NATURAL BORN KILLERS when discussing the work of Tarentino.

As it stands, the copy of AVVENTURA I was loaned was indeed the Criterion. So after I watch it once through, I’ll definitely go back and watch it with the commentary.

In other news, I’m probably gonna start podcasting soon – any thoughts/suggestions for comments that might make for an intersting twenty plus minutes of Hatter babbling?

  • My bad – it was LA STRADA he loaned me, not L’AVVENTURA.

  • That makes so much more sense. You’ll have to tell me if you like it. The only other Fellini film I’ve seen is La Dolce Vita (which was fantastic).
