Fall Lineup

So far, 2008 seems like an above average year for movies. All summer, we’ve been fed by Hollywood with great stuff from the Apatow clan (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pineapple Express), the now iconic Christopher Nolan with The Dark Knight, from Bekmambetov with the scorchingly awesome Wanted.  Terrific stuff like Roger Donaldson’s The Bank Job and David Mamet’s Redbelt have come to us from across the pond.  Marvel made history with the crazy success of Iron Man, and the disappointing, but still successful The Incredible Hulk.   Lesser known and independent films have been just as bitchin’ this summer too: Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Hamlet 2, Towelhead, the list can go on and on, and it’s not even October yet!

We still have so many movies to look forward to (click on the link to watch the trailer if it exists):

Blindness(Dir. Fernando Meirelles, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffallo, Gael Garcia Bernal)

Quantum Solace -(Dir. Marc Forster, Daniel Craig, Judi Dench)

Revolutionary Road – (Dir. Sam Mendes, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet)

The Road (less than two months away, and still no trailer?) – (Dir. John Hillcoat, Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron)

Australia – (Dir. Baz Luhrmann, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman)

The Wrestler – (Dir. Darren Aronosky, Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei)

Valkyrie - (Dir. Bryan Singer, Tom Cruise)

Slumdog Millionaire – (Dir. Danny Boyle)

Changeling – (Dir. Clint Eastwood, Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich

Doubt – (Dir. John Patrick Stanley, Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (isn’t that music in the trailer from Beauty and the Beast?) – (Dir. David Fincher, Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton)

And it just keeps going and going. What film are you most looking forward to now that the film season is just about to climax?  Why?  What did I leave off the list?

The trailer to Revolutionary Road was released last week and can be found below.  I can’t wait.

I’m most looking forward to Twilight, Time Traveler’s Wife and maybe Revolutionary Road. I say maybe about the last one because I’m waiting to read the reviews for it. If they are bad I may skip it. It looks a little depressing, but the acting will probably be terrific and I just love both Kate and Leo!

Changeling looks very interesting as does the plot to Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire .
Although, being a bit of a gamer, i expect my guilty pleasure of the year to be Max Payne.

Blindness, Australia, The Wrestler, Changeling, Doubt, The Soloist, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road (trailer made me cry), The Spirit, and I shouldn’t admit this, but I will see Twilight…sigh.

Go go Australia! And I’m looking forward to Brad Pitt’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. I can’t wait to read your reviews, bitchinmasterblogger.

  5. Out of the ones listed I’m most looking forward to Australia and Quantum of Solace. Also on the radar is Twilight… I just know it is going to be a lot of fun.

2008 has been a pretty good year for entertaining films.

Yeah, you left out the chick flicks and some other stuff: Twilight, The Time-Traveler’s Wife, The City of Ember, Coraline, The Tale of Despereaux, etc. I think I’m most excited for The Road, even though I won’t go and see it.
