A few weeks ago, Fletch at Blog Cabins created a top 50 films list. It became pretty viral and tons of the blogs I read frequently, made their own list. I’ve finally decided to attempt my own. So, here it goes. The list in no particular order, and is subject to frequent change since my tastes are pretty damn fickle (for instances, I’m pretty sure Gerry will be off the list soon…) You should make your own list so I can either judge, or respect you. You can judge me based on the few guilty pleasures I’ve listed, but I fought hard to be honest and not list stuff like There Will Be Blood since I may never watch that movie again.

Lists are always so hard and like you, my taste seem to change every month. An interesting list and some of these movies would make it to mine like Lost in Translation, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Pulp Fiction, Magnolia.
Where’s LOTR, Matrix and Rocky?
i’ve seen 5.
i know, impressive.
Wow, this is a unique top 50 list, I’ve got to say. I did like the 25th Hour, but it’s refreshing to see someone like it so much they put it at #1! I also love The Darjeeling Limited – such a good movie.
I approve (as if you need it).
I like the tone of the first half you listed, as many seem to fit into a genre (not really) of films that I almost always like: the edgy, semi-indie, semi-gritty drama. Movies that are mainstream…but not.
Where’s Children of Men?!? It seems like it should be represented.
Fletch, I’m flattered you approve. I thought about Children of Men, but as a rule for the list, I kept it to movies I’ve seen more than once, this kept me from putting every movie I loved that came out this year. But, as I wrote, this is a fickle, fickle list, it’ll change. I think I’ll go rent Children of Men tonight.
Wow, eclectic list! I’ve seen 32 of them and I have to say – I don’t think we have the same taste but that is a-ok!
I love your quote “You should make your own list so I can either judge, or respect you. “. That is priceless!
