I thought about Children of Men, but as a rule for the list, I kept it to movies I've seen more than once, this kept me from putting every movie I loved that came out this year. I like the tone of the first half you listed, as many seem to fit into a genre (not really) of films that I almost always like: the edgy, semi-indie, semi-gritty drama. Movies that are mainstream...but not. Where's Children of Men?!? It seems like it should be represented. I approve (as if you need it).

I did like the 25th Hour, but it's refreshing to see someone like it so much they put it at #1! I also love The Darjeeling Limited - such a good movie.
