I like to think that I’m mostly in the know about movies.  I have a pretty good idea of who’s doing what project with whom, what’s notable at the most recent film festivals, (a large part of this is due to all my blogging friends who attend TIFF, thanks for the heads up guys), when stuff will be hitting theaters, etc., etc.  There are a few exceptions, like when I totally missed Danny Boyle’s Sunshine in theaters even though I had been looking forward to it for months.  I also completely missed the theatrical release of Werner Herzog’s latest documentary Encounters at the End of the World last year.  But for the most part, I’m on the ball.  Which makes the discovery of the following trailer completely disturbing, as I didn’t hear anything about it until an ad on caught my eye.  It looks like one seriously bitchin’ film.  Has anyone seen it?  Why don’t I know more about it?  When will it be shown in the intellectual waste land I call home?

  1. This was one of the biggies at TIFF’08, but not the hyped stuff like The Wrestler or Slumdog Millionaire.

I didn’t see it myself (kinda dark and would eventually get released), but had a few friends who did and said it was amazing. It’s slated to come out here in Toronto in early April.

  2. I want to see!!

    PS You don’t know anything.

Thanks for the explanation Shannon, I was seriously concerned. I’m thinking of forgoing Sundance next year in lieu of TIFF.

And when I say forgoing, I mean foregoing.

  5. TIFF is one wild experience, I hope you do get a chance to make it up here! Funny, one day I hope to go to Sundance 🙂
